Hey, I’m Ruby.
I’m a Murri creative of Indigenous/European heritage, from Wakka Wakka mob through my paternal line, and with ties to Uralla and Northern Rivers through my maternal line. I am a book editor and graphic designer, with a keen interest in First Nations and Australian stories and art. I was one of two recipients of the prestigious black&write! Editor Internships in 2025, and have been working as a freelance graphic designer since 2023.
In my design practice, I’ve worked on band merchandise, vinyl record design, social media and the creation and implementation of branding systems.
About me
In the State Library of Queensland’s black&write! Indigenous Writing and Editing Project, I was rigorously trained in the art of structural editing, copy editing, proofreading, and manuscript development. I’ve collaborated with several arts organisations across Australia, including University of Queensland Press, Astray and Griffith Review Literary Journal. You can access two of the pieces I commissioned for GR Online here and here.
I have been working on a project-by-project basis as a freelance graphic designer since 2023, with specialisation in band merchandise, vinyl record design, social media and the creation and implementation of branding systems. In 2026, I completed a Diploma of Graphic Design with Tafe Queensland, where I had the opportunity to work on a national road safety campaign with Re:act.
Additionally, from 2021-2022 I was the founding editor and designer of local publication Pocket Baby Zine. I coordinated and managed the entire project from ideation to design to print.
